Miscellany ▪ I Trimmed

By Matt Sussman | Monday, August 31st, 2009

trimmyThe intent of a layoff beard is that it ceases to exist once full time employment is achieved. (Just like this blog!)

But here’s something I never quite anticipated. What if I landed a part-time job? After some profound self-deliberation, it’s been concluded that a trimming is in order. Never mind that it would’ve probably been semi-shorn because the damn thing needed it. It gets hot under all this cheek hair, y’see.

Without getting too much into it, I now have part time employment starting on the horizon with a semi-prominent website. The sweet part is I’ll get to work from home, and hopefully in the coming weeks you’ll hear all about it. I’d tell you everything if they already announced something, but essentially I just want to drop a legitimate excuse on why The Layoff Beard, much like the actual layoff beard, will not be as heavy as it normally is. It’s because more meaningful work will be done. From home. (Just had to mention that again.)

don’t you break out a ton under a beard? Ryan’s face turns all red and broken out if he grows a beard. I asked him to grow one over the holidays. Until he started looking like a homeless man and his face got super hot and irritated. Glad he decided to get rid of it. Do you also have a 5 o’clock shadow, right after you shave? hahaha. boys are weird.

oh yeah, and another congrats to the new gig (even though I’d like to PERSONALLY NOTE that I was one of the FIRST people you told -takes bow-). I’m really proud of you and excited to see what you’ll come up with :)

I used to grow a beard in the off season (I referee high school football) and had lots of problems with facial dandruff. Oh well.
Say, I didn’t see an easy way to follow your blog.
